Description

An attractive Ariki Orbital brooch from New Zealand, featuring a polished circular cabochon of deep-green nephrite jade.

The jade is held within an elegant arrangement of sweeping elliptical bands, designed to represent planets orbiting the sun. The setting is finished in 22-carat gold plate and fitted with a hinged pin and rollover safety clasp.

This design has been identified as Ariki reference GO758. Ariki is a well-known New Zealand jewellery company particularly associated with nephrite jade, traditionally known as greenstone or pounamu.

Approximate measurements: 43mm × 30mm.

Please note that the 22-carat description refers to the gold-plated finish; the brooch is not solid gold.

Condition

Presented in good condition, with light surface wear consistent with previous use. The nephrite jade cabochon appears securely held and displays an attractive deep-green colour. The gold-plated finish remains bright, with minor marks and light wear visible under close inspection. The pin and rollover clasp are present. The original Ariki box is not included.
