Dimensions:
A beautifully modelled early 20th century bronze bust of embracing lovers, cast after a design by Alfredo Pina and bearing the G.M.G. Paris “Cire Perdue” foundry stamp.
The composition captures an intimate and highly romantic moment, the two figures emerging from a richly textured naturalistic base in a manner strongly influenced by the expressive French sculptural tradition of the late 19th and early 20th century. The gentle inclination of the heads and the flowing transition of form lend the piece a lyrical, almost dreamlike quality.
Executed in the lost-wax process (cire perdue), the bronze has a fine dark patina with subtle tonal variation across the surface, enhancing the sculptural modelling and depth. The reverse and underside show the characteristic hand-finished qualities associated with early Parisian art-foundry casting.
A striking decorative work in its own right, this is also a highly collectable period bronze, ideal for display on a desk, pedestal, or within a cabinet of fine decorative arts.
Presented in good antique condition, with minor age-related surface wear and light patina variation consistent with age.
